Tsavo, Amboseli & Masai Mara Photo Safari - June 2025
OVERVIEW
Embark on a captivating journey through three of Kenya's renowned parks – Tsavo West, Amboseli, and the Masai Mara – capturing the country's diverse wildlife through your lens.
Tsavo West boasts the remarkable Shetani Lava flow and the enchanting Mzima Springs. In Amboseli, witness vast herds of elephants against the stunning backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Masai Mara promises an abundance of wildlife and exceptional sightings of majestic big cats.
Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, followed by a transfer to a Nairobi hotel for an overnight stay. The next morning, embark on a road journey to Tsavo West National Park, where you'll spend three nights.
Continuing your exploration, travel by road to Amboseli National Park, immersing yourself in its wonders for four nights. To avoid an extensive drive, a flight will take you to the Masai Mara, where you'll be greeted at the airstrip and transferred to Mara Serena Lodge with its breathtaking views over the Mara below.. This lodge will be your home for an exhilarating five nights.
After a memorable final morning game drive, a flight will return you to Nairobi, where you can enjoy the convenience of a day room at a hotel near the airport. Later that evening, the complimentary shuttle service will transport you to catch your international flight home.
TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK
Established in 1948, Tsavo stands as Kenya's largest National Park, bisected by both the Mombasa/Nairobi railway line and the main road.
Tsavo West, distinguished by volcanic hills, lush vegetation, and ample water sources, offers a cooler environment compared to the arid expanse of Tsavo East. This expansive and visually striking wilderness, inhabited by the Lesser Kudu and the Maasai Giraffe, is particularly enticing for photographers.
The "Poachers Lookout" provides a panoramic view of the snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, while the underwater glass hide at Mzima Springs offers a unique opportunity to observe hippos.
Tsavo is renowned as the habitat of maneless lions, with two individuals gaining infamy as 'The Man-Eaters of Tsavo' during the late 19th-century railway construction at Tsavo Bridge. The park's rich history and diverse landscapes make it a captivating destination for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.
AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Established as a national park in 1974, the core area of Amboseli spans 392 square kilometers (151 square miles). However, it forms an integral part of a larger 8,000 square kilometer (3,100 square mile) ecosystem that extends across the Kenya-Tanzania border.
Safeguarding two of five primary swamps, Amboseli provides a sanctuary for a diverse array of mammals and birds. The park encompasses a desiccated Pleistocene lake, named Lake Amboseli, and ranks as Kenya's second most popular wildlife park, surpassed only by the Masai Mara.
Renowned as the premier destination worldwide for close encounters with wild, free-roaming elephants, Amboseli also offers breathtaking vistas of Africa's tallest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, soaring to 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). This picturesque backdrop stands as one of the most awe-inspiring scenes in any African park.
At the top of our priority list is capturing the iconic image of a majestic herd of elephants against the backdrop of the snow-capped mountain, epitomizing the allure of Amboseli.
MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
In the expansive landscape of the Masai Mara, you'll encounter gentle rolling hills, vast savanna grasslands, riverine thickets, and the renowned Mara River. Encompassing 1,500 square kilometers (560 square miles), this location stands as a premier destination for a photographic safari, immersing you in the heart of authentic Africa.
The Masai Mara holds a distinguished reputation as one of the prime spots to capture Africa's big cats, including lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Yet, these iconic predators are just a fraction of the diverse residents that call this area home, as the sheer abundance of mammals, birds, and reptiles is truly astonishing.
Choosing June for your visit ensures a quieter experience, with fewer regular tourists and the opportunity to be one of the select few vehicles at wildlife sightings.
