LIONS & LEOPARDS OF MALAMALA PHOTO SAFARI TRIP REPORT
Our safari began in Johannesburg, where we stayed overnight. The next day, we flew to Skukuza in Kruger National Park and were transferred to MalaMala Main Camp.
MALAMALA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE AT MAIN CAMP (10 NIGHTS)
With a generous 10 nights at this private reserve, we took our time to soak in the wonders of nature. Our main focus was on spotting the famous resident lions and leopards of MalaMala.
Over the next 11 days, we were incredibly lucky to encounter a wide variety of wildlife, including zebra, elephant, kudu, nyala, impala, giraffe, waterbuck, klipspringer, and a wonderful variety of birds. However, it was the magical moments spent with the different leopards and the Kambula Lion Pride that truly stood out.
We witnessed the Piccadilly female leopard searching for her "lost" cub, a tense moment that ended in relief when the cub was found.
We also photographed the River Rocks female, the Xingkova female, the Island female, the Plaque Rock female, the Lookout female the Three Rivers female, the Kangela male, the Flat Rock Male and the Maxim's male. making a total of 9 different adult leopards as well as the cub of the Piccadilly female and the River Rocks female.
The Kambula Pride was also seen on many separate occasions, along with the Ndzhenga males.
A final treat was in store for us on our final day as we were fortunate to see two Cheetahs, making it three out of three for the big cats.
THE JOURNEY ENDS
After a short morning drive at MalaMala, we flew back to Johannesburg, marking the end of our safari.
A huge thank you to our MalaMala guides - Chad, Gareth, and Mike - for their exceptional care and knowledge, which helped us capture stunning wildlife photos. We also extend our gratitude to the staff at Main Camp for their excellent hospitality and delicious continental breakfasts, allowing us more time for field photography.
Lastly, thank you to Al & Kathy for joining us on this unforgettable photo safari.
Enjoy some highlights from our incredible journey!
Warm regards,
Stu
